While Microsoft has discontinued Windows 10 Mobile operating
system, the company is still releasing security and quality
updates for the platform. The Windows 10 Mobile
Build 15063.1029 is now rolling out to all supported
mobile devices with Creators Update. Build 15063.1029 for
Windows 10 Mobile is not a big update as it only includes the
security-related bug fixes and improves the overall
performance.
Microsoft has completed the rollout of the Patch Tuesday
updates for PCs, while the cumulative update is still rolling
out for Windows Phones. The company has released 15063.1029 for
handsets running with Windows 10 Mobile version 1703. Not only
version 1703 but the
Windows 10 Mobile Fall Creators Update devices are also
receiving a new update.
As you might have guessed already, the update does not bring
any new features or major improvements to the platform. The
changelog is mostly about PC-related things, so it is safe to
assume that this build has no noticeable changes. The changelog
does mention that the company has fixed some security bugs in
Microsoft Edge and a bug affecting the time zone information on
some systems.
If you’re on the Release Preview Ring or the Production Ring
(non-Insiders), the update will show up on your phone. However,
the update is still not available on Fast Ring handsets.
Microsoft is expected to begin rolling out the April’s Patch
Update for Fast Ring Insiders after a small delay. By the looks
of things, this update should be available for you later this
week.
In the past few weeks, the executive of Microsoft shared
their views on failed Windows Phone platform. “Windows Phone
died because it would have been almost impossible to beat
Google or Apple without carriers and handset manufacturers
embracing it. We got second string devices and almost no
support at the carriers. They couldn’t keep burning money to
please Sisyfus,” Microsoft’s former employee Watson explained.
