Fortnite arrives on the Nintendo Switch today; Super Mario Party and Super Smash Bros later this year

Fortnite has arrived on Nintendo Switch.

The mega-popular battle royale game is launching on Nintendo’s newest console today at 10 a.m. PT. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé confirmed the news during Nintendo’s E3 2018 presentation Tuesday morning.

Fornite on the Switch had been rumored, but now it’s official. The game is already available on PCs, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and iOS with an Android version on the way. Its arrival on Nintendo Switch unites one of the most popular games in recent memory with Nintendo’s hit console.

Nintendo also today announced Super Mario Party for the Switch, arriving October 5. It’s the first Mario Party console game since Mario Party 10 debuted on the Wii U in 2015. The Switch version includes new features, like playing with multiple Switch consoles at the same time.

Another big game announcement from Nintendo: Super Smash Bros for the Switch. Called Super Smash Bros Ultimate, the game includes every character that has appeared in any edition of Super Smash Bros — that’s more than 60 fighters. It features support for GameCube controllers and amiibo figures. Super Smash Bros Ultimate debuts Dec. 7.

Nintendo announced a slew of other games for the Switch: Daemon x Machina, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Overcooked 2, Killer Queen Black, Octopath Traveler, Hollow Knight, and more.

The Nintendo Switch debuted last year is already one of the most successful gaming consoles of all time, with sales nearing 20 million units. It’s helped Nintendo rebound from its previous console launch, the Wii U, which wasn’t as popular with gamers. It also sent Nintendo profits soaring by 500 percent over last year.
