Casio is one of the traditional watch makers that’s been actively participating in the Wear OS ecosystem, releasing a couple of rugged smartwatches for outdoor adventurers. Now Casio’s got another device coming to market.

The Casio WSD-F20A is now official. It’s got many of the same rugged features of Casio’s previous Wear OS smartwatches, but at a more affordable price tag.

Casio’s WSD-F20A has a rugged shell that meets Military Standard 810G for duability and is water resistant up to 50 meters. It’s got a low power GPS and full color maps with navigation, and you can use these features offline, which ought to come in handy when your wandering the wilderness.

Also included with the WSD-F20A is a digital compass, altimeter, barometer, activity tracker, and a microphone. There’s also a dual layer LCD screen with a monochrome LCD that’ll clearly show the time in daylight and can be used to conserve energy. Meanwhile, the color LCD shows measurement info and apps in full color.

Casio touts that it has partnered with nine major app companies to load outdoors and sports apps onto its WSD-F20A. They include ViewRanger, Hole19, and Fishbrain.

The Casio WSD-F20A will launch in May for $399, which is around $100 less than the WSD-F20 that launched last year. The WSD-F20A will be available at select retailers nationwide and Casio’s online store.

The WSD-F20A’s rugged design isn’t going to appeal to everyone, but for folks that like outdoor activities or just like rugged designs, this new Casio smartwatch looks like a solid option. It’s especially nice to see another rugged Wear OS smartwatch from Casio considering that the Wear OS market isn’t exactly booming right now.
