Windows 10 updates are complex for people with a slow internet
connection or limited bandwidth. The OS is designed to be

allows you to limit Windows 10 from consuming your home network
with Delivery Optimization feature.
A slow Internet connection comes with all kinds of drawbacks
and Windows 10 May 2020 Update finally includes a notable
improvement in this regard.
Currently, Windows 10’s Delivery Optimization feature allows
you to limit the bandwidth used by updates and Store with a
percentage level. With Windows 10 May 2020 Update (version
2004), you can finally select the bandwidth value that should
be used for the process.
The new delivery optimization options will provide you with
more control over how your internet connection should be used
by Windows Update and Windows Store to download updates.
In Windows 10 version 2004, you can set an absolute bandwidth
limit, ensuring Windows Update, Microsoft Store and Microsoft
products won’t hog your internet connection with its background
If you set an absolute value for bandwidth usage, Windows
Update won’t try to use all your bandwidth/internet connect
speed by default. Instead, it would try to dynamically optimize
the amount of bandwidth it needs and Windows Update/Microsoft
Store usage won’t go above the value set by you.
This delivery optimization new setting also applies to app
updates from the Store and updates for other Microsoft
All these improvements will be available when
Windows 10 May 2020 Update ships in the last week of May.
In related news, Microsoft is also making changes to the
‘Optional Updates’ section in Windows Update page with Windows

“We’re updating the Optional Updates Available section that

able to copy the text in case you need it,” the company
While Windows 10 May 2020 Update is expected to ship later this
month, Windows 10 20H2 update won’t arrive until October.
