Windows 10 October 2018 Update Build 17763.167 released to Insiders

Windows 10 Build 17763.167

Earlier this month,
Microsoft released Windows 10 Build 17763.165 (KB4469342)
to the Insiders in the Release Preview Ring. Today, the
modified package of KB4469342 is rolling out to the same
group of Insiders.

This updated version of KB4469342 will bump the system to Build
17763.167, up from 17763.165 which was released earlier this
month. There are few reports which claim that the Windows
Insiders in Release Preview Ring are seeing
Build 17763.167 (updated version of KB4469342) but
the changelog is not live just yet.

It could be possible that this update has addressed minor
issues in the operating system and the company wants to test
them before rolling out the changes to the general
public. It’s likely that the cumulative update for the
public will have a different KB, new build number and
additional fixes.

An insider who received the update told us on Twitter that the
KB number is unchanged and the update only shows up in Release
Preview Ring. By the looks of things, the update was released a
few hours ago and there is no official announcement available
at the time of publication of this story.

As the company itself hasn’t provided any information on what’s
changed with this cumulative update for Insiders, it can be
assumed that the update has addressed minor issues.

You should not join the Release Preview Ring to grab this
update as a newer and better update could be released soon.

New cumulative updates for public expected soon

Windows Update check

In the support documents, Microsoft has stated that the
reported bugs in Windows 10 October 2018 Update and April 2018
Update will be addressed later this month. This suggests that
another cumulative update is planned and it could be released
later today or this week.

It remains to be seen when a new cumulative update for Windows
10 will be released this month.

While another November cumulative update is expected to arrive
later this week, the next Patch Tuesday updates with security
and non-security fixes will begin rolling out on December 11.

Windows 10 October 2018 Update is also available for compatible
devices and if you haven’t received the update yet, you’re
recommended to wait.
