WeWork is expanding its “headquarters by WeWork” concept to more cities, including Bellevue, Wash., where it will open a new space later this year, the company announced Tuesday.

Co-working giant WeWork opened its first “headquarters by WeWork” offices in New York and San Francisco last year. It’s an alternative to WeWork’s traditional offerings, described as a “fully private, personalized, and flexible workspace” that does not need to be in an existing WeWork building. WeWork still holds the lease and it builds out the space based on a company’s headcount, working styles, and other data. The strategy allows WeWork to ink deals for smaller floor plans while still expanding its real estate footprint.

The company announced six new “headquarters by WeWork” locations across Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, and Bellevue, where WeWork will open a new 14,500 square-foot space at the Hines Summit II building at 10885 Northeast 4th Street this winter. It previously announced a “headquarters by WeWork” expansion in Berlin and Toronto.

WeWork, which filed IPO paperwork in April, already has one of the largest office presences in the Seattle region, trailing only homegrown companies such as Amazon, Microsoft and Boeing. WeWork officials said earlier this year that the total footprint of all its leased real estate in the Seattle area has risen to 1.7 million square feet, up from 900,000 square feet as of last summer.

WeWork said it has 12,500 members in the Seattle area. The company and its members contributed $5.9 billion to Seattle’s economy last year, WeWork said.
