Valve’s Steam Link app was slated to launch this week, enabling Android and iOS gamers to stream games from their PC to their phone, tablet, or set-top box. The Android app launched in beta one week ago, but it doesn’t look like iOS users will be getting their app any time soon.

Valve has announced that Apple has rejected its Steam Link app. According to a statement from Valve, the app was approved earlier this month, but then Apple revoked the approval because of “business conflicts” that hadn’t been realized by the original reviewers.

Here’s Valve’s full statement on the matter, which it sent to MacRumors:

“On Monday, May 7th, Apple approved the Steam Link app for release. On Weds, May 9th, Valve released news of the app. The following morning, Apple revoked its approval citing business conflicts with app guidelines that had allegedly not been realized by the original review team.

“Valve appealed, explaining the Steam Link app simply functions as a LAN-based remote desktop similar to numerous remote desktop applications already available on the App Store. Ultimately, that appeal was denied leaving the Steam Link app for iOS blocked from release. The team here spent many hours on this project and the approval process, so we’re clearly disappointed. But we hope Apple will reconsider in the future.”

The Steam Link app enables you to stream your Steam games from your PC to your Android or iOS phone, tablet, or set-top box, letting you play games all over your house rather than being tethered to your desktop. Support for Bluetooth and Steam controllers is included.

Valve’s Steam Link app seems like a great option for PC gamers, giving them the ability to play on their mobile device or TV when they can’t or don’t want to sit at their desk. It’s strange to hear that Apple rejected the app, especially considering that it was approved first, and it’s disappointing for iOS gamers. Here’s to hoping that Apple changes its mind and allows Steam Link onto the App Store.
