This is sweet: Bill Gates and Warren Buffett get nostalgic in stroll through old candy store

When Warren Buffett was 6 years old in 1936, he would get a nickel a week for allowance, which he would take to a local drug store and spend on five pieces of penny candy.

More than 80 years and many, many nickels later, the billionaire Buffett still loves the candy store, and he looked just like a kid in one during a recent excursion with good friend Bill Gates. (Last year, the two visited an Omaha furniture store where they reclined on a mattress together).

In a new post on his Gates Notes blog, Gates wrote about his recent trip to the Berkshire Hathaway shareholder meeting in Omaha, Neb., and how he and Buffett checked out the Fairmont Antiques Mercantile.

Watch Gates and Buffett in the video below drooling over everything from Cracker Jacks to peanut brittle, Whoppers, Milk Duds, and more.

“I like almost everything,” Buffett said.

Gates even came across an old copy of Popular Mechanics magazine featuring an article that he said heralded the start of the personal computing industry — and inspired, in part, the start of Microsoft.
