T-Mobile added a net total of 1.9 million customers in the fourth quarter, bringing its total to 86 million customers, according to preliminary results released this morning by the Bellevue, Wash.-based wireless carrier.

The company has added more than 1 million customers for 27 quarters in a row, or nearly seven years, but it remains a distant third to ATT and Verizon in total customers. T-Mobile has been fighting state attorneys general in court, seeking to overcome opposition to its planned merger with Sprint. It’s looking to strengthen its network and market position as it rolls out next-generation 5G wireless technology.
