Starbucks expanding menu delivery service across the U.S. in new agreement with Uber Eats

Starbucks coffee to go will go even further early next year as the Seattle-based company is expanding its Starbucks Delivers experience throughout the U.S. as part of an agreement with Uber Eats.

Uber Eats will be the preferred delivery provider when the rollout begins to new markets in 2020. The expansion follows the introduction of Starbucks Delivers in 11 markets over the past year, including Seattle, San Francisco, Miami, Boston, Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Orange County, Calif., Houston and Dallas.

More than 95 percent of the Starbucks menu will be available to customers and can be accessed through the Uber Eats mobile app on iOS and Android devices.

“We are driven to create new and unique digital experiences that are meaningful, valuable and convenient for our customers,” Roz Brewer, group president and chief operating officer for Starbucks, said in a news release Tuesday. “Partnering with Uber Eats helps us take another step towards bringing Starbucks to customers wherever they are.”

The latest tech-infused step for the coffee giant comes a day after Starbucks announced it was partnering with restaurant tech company Brightloom, formerly Eatsa, to share its digital flywheel software and bring more digital solutions to licensed Starbucks stores around the world.

Starbucks said Tuesday that its agreement with Uber Eats will call for the companies to collaborate on innovation and technology integration with a focus on delivery packaging, in-store operations, and a quick order-to-door delivery window.

“We’re excited to expand our partnership across the United States to make ordering their favorite coffee and breakfast sandwich as easy as requesting a ride,” said Jason Droege, vice president of UberEverything.
