Samsung Galaxy S20 expected to have a 120Hz display

It’s expected that one of the major upgrades of the Samsung Galaxy S20 will include an improved camera system, but now some info on another major new feature has leaked out.

The Galaxy S20 will reportedly come with a 120Hz display. That’s according to “highly reliable sources” speaking to SamMobile as well as leaker Ice Universe, the latter of which adds that the Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra will have 120Hz screens, too. It’s said that you’ll be able to switch between 60Hz and 120Hz on your Galaxy S20, with the former option giving you a bit more battery life when you need it.

Having a display with a 120Hz refresh rate means that the screen is updating the image more quickly than the 60Hz refresh rate that most smartphones have. The benefit is that animations and scrolling will look smoother.

There are already some 90Hz and 120Hz smartphones on the market, including the OnePlus 7T and gaming phones like the ASUS ROG Phone 2. Now that a high refresh rate is coming to a Galaxy phone, though, there will likely be a lot of folks who are exposed to a high refresh rate screen on their phone for the first time.

Samsung is hosting an event on February 11th, and it’s expected that we’ll officially meet the Galaxy S20 family there.
