The battle royale genre is emerging as one of the biggest developments in gaming since the advent of first person shooters, or at least it feels that way with how popular PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) and Fortnite are at the moment. Taking on both, and especially the latter with its cel-shaded graphics, is a new game called Crazy Justice, and it’s headed to the Nintendo Switch with cross-platform gameplay.
Crazy Justice hit the crowdfunding scene last year where it raised over $51,000 from 556 backers. It would raise more money following the campaign, hitting $67,128 in all. Those are all modest numbers, of course, but the game surpassed the $30,000 funding goal that developer Black Riddles Studios set, and so Crazy Justice will see a release. What’s unique, though, is that it will be the first battle royale game on the Switch.
Not only that, but it will feature cross-platform gaming between the Switch, Xbox One, and PC. In other words, it’s not as limited in cross-platform support as Fortnite. Black Riddles Studios teased gamers with a new video (see above) showcasing cross-platform gameplay between the Switch and Xbox One. Sadly the PlayStation 4 is notably absent from the cross-play list, though the game itself will be available on the PS4.
Fortnite offers cross-platform support as well, but is not available for the Switch (not right now, anyway). As such, Crazy Justice has a major selling point it can promote. There’s lots of potential to bring in a ton of revenue as well—the game hits on two of the most popular categories right now, those being battle royale gameplay, and the hot-selling hybrid Switch console.
For those who are not a fan of playing against gamers on other platforms, the feature will be completely optional.
“Black Riddles Studios is happy to introduce a new gameplay footage of Crazy Justice on Nintendo Switch. Also the game will support cross-play, but players will always have the option of choosing to play only with the same platform players,” Black Riddles Studios said.
If everything goes to plan, Crazy Justice will launch by the end of June (it’s slated for a Q2 launch).
