Amazon has come up with another option for its customers to get packages delivered.

A new concept rolling out slowly for Prime Members called Amazon Day, as first reported by CNET, lets users set a designated drop off day for orders placed throughout the week. At checkout, users will have the option to set an “Amazon Day.” That will remain the default day of the week for the program unless changed.

The invite-only program is another way for Amazon to get around the threat of package theft that comes from dropping off items at the front door that might not be brought in for hours. Amazon has employed other potential solutions to this problem such as in-home delivery through Amazon Key and Cloud Cam programs.

Having all orders from a week put together into one batch — and possibly box — could reduce the instances of the single tiny item in a huge box. The new program could also help Amazon with shipping costs, which rose 22 percent over a year ago in the most recent quarter to nearly $6.6 billion.

CNET reports that the company has been testing Amazon Day with employees, and it is now testing it with a small group of customers, with more to come in the next few months.
