Motorola One With Pure Android Experience Arriving As Best Buy Exclusive

The notched screen Motorola One smartphone was announced back in late August of this year when it was confirmed that the mid-range device and its sibling, the One Power, would be launching in Europe, Latin America, and Asia Pacific. At the time any potential availability in the States was unannounced. Motorola has now announced that the Motorola One will be coming to the U.S. and that the device will be sold exclusively through Best Buy locations for $399.

Best Buy is taking pre-orders right now with a black or white version offered; official availability is set for November 9 online and November 11 in stores. One draw for this smartphone will be the price; in a world of over $1,000 flagship smartphones a decent mid-range device for $399 looks like a bargain. The significant feature of this device is Android One meaning that Motorola has left Android alone with no custom overlay on top of Android to slow down updates for the device.

Specifications for the Motorola One include a 5.9-inch LCD with 720 x 1520 resolution, Snapdragon 625 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. Power is from a 3,000 mAh internal battery; the two rear cameras boast 13MP and 2MP resolution and the front camera is an 8MP unit. Storage is expandable via memory cards, and the smartphone does have a 3.5mm headphone port and rear fingerprint scanner.

All Android One smartphones are guaranteed three years of monthly security patches for additional peace of mind. Motorola has also stated that the One will get a pair of software updates taking it to Android Q. The device is a GSM unlocked phone and should work with AT&T and T-Mobile. Android One was originally aimed at helping to bring lower cost smartphones to the developing world, but the devices are appealing to users in the U.S. who want a purer Android experience and don’t desire the highest-end smartphones.
