LG V40 ThinQ begins getting Android Pie update in the U.S.

LG V40 ThinQ

Another flagship Android device is now receiving its Pie update.

The LG V40 ThinQ on Verizon is being updated to Android 9 Pie starting today (via Droid-Life). The update is version V405UA20a, and because it’s a major OS update, you should expect a pretty large update when it arrives on your LG V40 ThinQ.

Included with this update are home screen gestures, support for going live to YouTube Live directly from the LG Camera app, the ability to record a video with up to five scenes in slow motion, a home screen lock that prevents apps and widgets from being unintentionally moved, and a game launcher that keeps all your gaming apps in one place. There’s also a Brief Notifications feature that’ll show alerts in a lighted bubble that takes up only part of the screen, meaning that the whole screen doesn’t have to wake up to show alerts.

Today’s update includes the April 1, 2019 Android security patches, too.

We haven’t seen many LG phones get updated to Android Pie to date, so it’s nice to see the LG V40 ThinQ on Verizon finally getting its slice of Pie. If you’ve got a Verizon LG V40 ThinQ, you can either wait for this update to roll out over the air to you or you can check for it manually by launching the Settings app and then selecting About Phone > Software Updates > Check for Update > Download Now.
