One of the highlight features of the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro is their longer battery life compared to their predecessors. If you want even more time away from a charger, though, it looks like Apple will be happy to help.
Images found inside iOS 13.2 suggest that Apple is working on a Smart Battery Case for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. According to MacRumors, there are three different model numbers for the cases and each one has a slightly different look, suggesting that Apple is working on a Smart Battery Case for each of its three new phones.
The cases look similar to the Smart Battery Cases that Apple launched for the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR earlier this year. The bottom two-thirds of the case’s back extends out because that’s where the battery is located, and there’s also a Lightning port on the bottom of the case and protection for the buttons on the sides of the phone. On these new cases, the cutout for the rear cameras is larger to accommodate the added cameras of the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro.
It’s unclear when Apple will launch the Smart Battery Cases for the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max. The cases for the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR launched in January after the phones launched in September or October, but the fact that these new Smart Battery Cases are already in iOS 13.2 suggests that Apple could launch them sooner, perhaps in time for the holidays.
As for pricing, the Smart Battery Cases for the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR were $129 each, so don’t be surprised if the new cases for the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max carry a similar price tag.
