Galaxy S9 starts getting Android 10 update in U.S. and Germany

The Samsung Galaxy S9’s Android 10 rollout is officially underway.

Galaxy S9 and S9+ owners on Reddit are reporting that the Android 10 and One UI 2 update is now hitting users in Germany and the U.S. Specifically, S9 and S9+ owners on Xfinity Mobile say that they’re now receiving their helping of Android 10.

The update is a biggie, coming in at nearly 2GB, so you may want to find yourself a speedy Wi-Fi connection before you begin downloading. Folks on Xfinity Mobile should be on the lookout for version G960USQU7DTA5/G965USQU7DTA5, while S9 and S9+ owners in Germany should be getting version G960FXXU7DTAA/G965FXXU7DTAA.

As you might expect with such a large update, there are lots of improvements to be found in this update. Dark mode improvements will bring you enhanced image, text, and color adjustments for day and night environments, and there are new full screen navigation gestures for getting around the OS.

Samsung has also updated the interactions to make it more comfortable to navigate big screens with minimal finger movement, animations are smoother, and the app icons and system colors have been made clearer.

Diving into specific apps, Samsung says that the battery usage graph will show more detailed information now, and Digital Wellbeing is gaining a Focus Mode to silence distracting apps. The Camera app will now let you edit the modes that appear at the bottom of the screen, and it’s also gained a better layout so you can focus on taking photos without being distracted by the settings getting in your way.

Now that the Android 10 update has officially started rolling out to the general public, we should see more countries and carriers begin pushing the update in the coming days. Be on the lookout, Galaxy S9 and S9+ owners!
