AT&T’s 5G network is growing again.

AT&T tells us that its low-band 5G network is going live in 13 new cities this week. This brings its 5G network availability up to 32 markets that cover 50 million people.

Here’s where AT&T’s low-band 5G is launching this week:

  • Bakersfield, CA
  • Modesto, CA
  • Oxnard, CA
  • San Luis Obispo, CA
  • Santa Barbara, CA
  • Liberty, GA
  • Wichita, KS
  • Boston, MA
  • New Bedford, MA
  • Frederick, MD
  • St. Louis, MO
  • Atlantic City, NJ
  • Dayton, OH

AT&T plans to offer nationwide coverage with its low-band 5G network in the first half of 2020.

To access AT&T’s low-band 5G network, you’ll need a compatible smartphone. Right now that’s the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G.

One other detail to note is that AT&T is also deploying millimeter wave-based 5G which it calls 5G+. This coverage is live in parts of 35 cities and is currently only available to business customers. mmWave offers faster speeds than low-band 5G but doesn’t reach as far or penetrate buildings as well.
