Apple Maps redesign is now available to everyone in the U.S.

Apple Maps

Way back in mid-2018, Apple announced that it would be rebuilding its Maps app from the ground up. Fast-forward to today and the rollout of the new Apple Maps is complete.

Apple says that everyone in the U.S. can now try its redesigned Maps app. The updated app offers faster and more accurate navigation, touts Apple, as well as comprehensive views of roads, buildings, parks, airports, malls, and more.

The updated Apple Maps will begin rolling out across Europe in the coming months.

Along with this redesign, Apple Maps gained several new features with the update to iOS 13. These include a Look Around feature similar to Google Maps’ Street View that lets you explore cities at the street level using high resolution 3D imagery.

Apple Maps also offers an easy way for you to build lists of places that you love called Collections, and you can share them with your friends. And a Favorites feature helps you navigate to your regular haunts with a single tap.

Other notable features of Apple Maps include real-time transit info for select cities like San Francisco, Washington D.C., New York, and Los Angeles. Starting today, real-time transit info is available in Miami, too.

Apple Maps offers indoor maps for airports and malls, too, and it can scan info from your Mail, Calendar, or Wallet apps to proactively serve you flight info for terminals, gate locations, departure times, and flight changes or cancellations.

Have you tried this new-look Apple Maps yet? If so, which app do you prefer: Apple Maps or Google Maps?
