Apex Legends has been a smash hit for EA and Respawn Entertainment. The game single-handedly turned EA’s sagging stock around after an earnings miss when it launched earlier this month. Within eight hours of launch, the game had a million players fighting it out on the battle royal battleground. Within three days, Apex Legends had 10 million players, and now Vince Zampella is offering up new statistics on the game along while teasing some of what is coming up.
According to Zampella, more than 25 million gamers have played Apex Legends since last Monday. Over the weekend the game bosted “well over” 2 million concurrent players at its peak. Zampella also talks about the creation of the thriving Apex Legends community over the last week that has offered “great feedback and ideas” about the game and what the future should hold. He noted that the goal was to build the game with the community and that EA and Respawn want player feedback and promises the team is listening.
A few of the things coming to the game in the next several weeks include the Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge. This contest will take place on Tuesday the 12th, which is today, and next Tuesday the 19th. The contest will see “48 of the biggest streamers on Twitch” competing in the game live; that content can be viewed here. So far, the streaming audience for Apex Legends on Twitch has been greater than the audience that Fortnite boasts.
Later this week Zampella says that limited-time Valentine’s Day themed loot will hit the game. Season one of the game starts in March and will bring with it the launch of the Battle Pass, new Legends, weapons, loot, and more.
