Anker introduces Roav Bolt car accessory with built-in Google Assistant

Google brought the Google Assistant functionality to cars through Android Auto and also baked into all modern day android smartphone. But, not all cars that are available in the market support Android Auto. Google aims to change that as it collaborates with Anker and launches a new product today named Roav Bolt which can add Google Assistant mic to any car.

Anker Roav Bolt is a car accessory that plugs into one’s car cigarette lighter. The Roav Bolt sports a minimal profile and has as a round knob that features the standard four Google Assistant lights. It is coupled with a dual noise-canceling microphone that can listen through car noise and even ambient noise.

The Roav Bolt pairs with the user’s phone and the car speaker system through Bluetooth and the far-field built-in mics on the device can hear the user’s voice even when the phone is locked or stashed away. Additionally, the device comes with two 12W (5V-2.4A)USB ports for charging a smartphone and other electronic devices.

With the dedicated Google Assistant on the Roav Bolt, users can simply say “Hey Google” along with the necessary phrase. According to Google, this can provide help in four main areas like Navigation, Communication, Entertainment and Getting things done.

Navigation: Users can ask Google Assistant’s help to get to the destination and find the things along the drive such as current traffic along the route, nearby gas stations, or restaurants and businesses.

Entertainment: Users can ask the Google Assistant to play favorite songs, radio stations, audiobooks and podcasts through the car’s sound system.

Communication: The Assistant can make a call, send a message and have the user’s notifications read out loud while driving.

Getting things done: Users can also ask the assistant to control compatible smart home devices on the go, check whether the lights are turned off when they leave home and adjust the thermostat when on the way home.

The Anker Roav Bolt is priced at $49.99 (Rs. 3470 approx.) and the pre-orders are live on Anker’s website. It will also be available at Best Buy, Target, and Wal-Mart in the coming weeks.
